Birthdays have that nasty habit of sneaking up on you when you are not looking.  Mine always comes with a bittersweet twist to it these days.  While I do enjoy the celebration, and well a day just for me, I lost a very near and dear person to my heart on my birthday six years ago.  I was pregnant, and my grandfather, the man who raised me never got a chance to meet his great grandson.  It breaks my heart my son never got a chance to grow up around that amazing man like I did.  So of course while I enjoy the cake, the lovely flowers and presents and the celebration of it all I spend a great deal of time reflecting and celebrating his life in my heart.
